Why you decided to run classes at MCSJ and what you think about the school

After being kindly invited to teach, I thought it would be nice to pass on some of my experience to others. Hand engravers are few and far between and someone out there may have hidden talents! This school is a great idea; bringing like minded people together to experience rare trades and techniques.

What you enjoy most about teaching your subject

People having a go!! Students being able, in a very short instruction period, to cut lines and shapes into metal, using exactly the same tools as a professional.

What students can expect from attending your course

To get insight into a little known about trade. Learning the basic ideas. Being able in a short time to make some cuts and do simple lettering on a copperplate. Students who already work with engraving can benefit from guidance in sharpening and making tools.

Your wishes for the coming year

If the students enjoy the experience I hope they would want to return after trying the basics to venture into more elaborate work.

Other wishes…world peace, more success for my business and a reasonable lottery win!
