Commissions

We run many jewellery making training courses and classes throughout the year, many of which are suitable for complete beginners. If you have ideas for pieces of jewellery you'd like to make, our classes will give you the skills to produce hand made jewellery and equip you to develop these skills further when you return home.

If you have ideas for a special piece of jewellery, either for yourself or a loved one, but you'd rather not make it yourself, commissioning one of our experienced tutors to make the piece for you can help you to turn your idea into reality.

Maybe there's a special animal, flower or object that means something to you or your loved one. Perhaps you have a phrase or saying, a date or name that you'd like to have incorporated into a piece of jewellery.

Births, engagements, marriages, civil partnerships, anniversaries, graduations, birthdays - any special occasion or life event can be celebrated with a one-off piece of jewellery. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

Whether you want a silver, gold or platinum piece, with precious or semi precious stones or glass, we can work with you to design and make a unique piece of jewellery to your specifications.

When you call us to discuss your ideas, we'll put you in touch with the best tutor for your specific needs. You'll discuss your ideas with the tutor and if you have examples, pictures or drawings to illustrate your ideas, it'll help us to understand your vision.

The cost of the commission will depend on the materials you choose, the complexity of the piece and the time the tutor feels it will take to produce it. This will all be discussed with you before you commit yourself so you have control over the final costs.

When you've agreed the design and cost of the piece, we'll ask you to pay a non-refundable deposit for the materials. Once the piece is complete and you're happy with it, you'll pay the balance of the cost, we'll send it for hallmarking, and then the piece will be yours.

Things to consider before booking a commission...

The more pictures, examples, photos or drawings you have to illustrate your ideas, the easier it will be for the jeweller to understand your vision. Please speak to us as early as possible if you want a piece made for a specific occasion or date. Unique pieces of jewellery take time to make so the more time you give us, the better.
